I wanted to post this thread for position purposes. Its a good help for knowing where to stand when fighting for instance an AOE mob.

Re: Distances: Max range for Spellcasting, Ranged Attacks, AOE Damage, Aggro, Etc...
There is a Wiki entry on that! I had to figure out most of that by myself through testing. Meh.
One thing I think the Wiki entry doesn't mention is that height differences aren't taken into account: Some actions (mostly TP moves) don't hit you, even though they should, if there is some notable height difference between you and the mob. This, however, is just relevant for mages and maybe Rangers.
In case some of you wonder: You can see the distance to a target by using Windower and its Distance plugin. I would have shown some screenshots, but upon taking them... I saw I have all overlays removed while doing so...
So I'll just take one from another blog, which shows Kaeko's distance to the Armoury Crate being 10.7' (see upper right corner).
In case you want to know more about Windower, feel free to ask.

The height effect for tp moves shows when you fight for instance Rostrum pumps NM. The mages always stand on the ledge above the fight, making it slightly easier to heal/nuke/dot etc etc
